For the S/S ’13 season, New York Fashion Week will run from 6-13 September 2012 and London Fashion Week will be held from 14-18 Sept. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the British Fashion Council (BFC) shifted their fashion weeks one week earlier in the calendar to avoid clashing with the Milan shows, which will start on the 19th.

‘Both organisations remain committed to finding a long term solution that would see a confirmed Fashion Season where brands and designer businesses in all four fashion capitals (New York, London, Milan and Paris) can plan for the long term and when exceptional circumstances arise there is dialogue and empathy to find a solution that works for all,’ the CFDA and BFC said in a joint statement.

‘The BFC would also like to thank Somerset House and the Brazilian Olympic Committee for their understanding and flexibility to enable London Fashion Week to take place at this time.’

The Brazilian Olympic Committee and Rio 2016 will use Somerset House as their official Olympic base during the London 2012 Games. Previously, the BFC cited the Olympics as one reason it couldn’t align its dates with Milan’s demands to shift the show schedule.
