Alber Elbaz, creative director of Lanvin, is to receive an honour from the Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. The Israeli fashion designer, who, since joining Lanvin in 2001 has given new life, femininity and a unique brand of modernity to the oldest couture label in the world, will be quite rightly honoured on 5 September by magazine editors and celebrity followers. Elbaz himself will address the special guests and show a film of his latest collection. We hear Linda Evangelista and Chloe Sevigny were among some of the first to RSVP to the event, a sure sign of Elbaz's celebrity and industry following.
