The summer is a quiet time for the fashion industry. Designers are frantically finishing their collections, in time for the shows which kick off with New York Fashion Week on September 5th, or enjoying much needed last minute holidays before the new season starts.

Marc Jacobs is currently in Ibiza with Kate Moss while Milan and Paris have now both shut for their annual month long August summer holidays.

So, is there anything happening on the fashion front? Here's a round up of all this week's fashion news...

First up, Madonna's long time stylist and collaborator Arianne Phillips has revealed what her Madgesty will be wearing on her upcoming Sweet and Sticky tour which starts this month in Cardiff. The looks run the gammet of both this season's catwalk trends and Madonna's own fashion incarnations past and present, including Gypsy, Punk and Dominatrix looks designed by some of Madonna's favourite designers, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Tom Ford and Miu Miu to name but a few. Miu Miu have custom made three pairs of shoes, while Tom Ford is in charge of suits for Madonna's band. The tour promises to give the International Collections a run for their money.

Next up two designers have announced this week they will be sitting out of the shows. Thea Brigazzi, one half of British label Preen, who now show in New York, will have to miss next season's fashion week - to give birth. Thea, who's partner is her co-collaborator on Preen, Justin Thornton has announced she's expecting their first child. Which means Justin will be headed to New York alone next February.

Sass and Bide have also announced they will not be showing at New York fashion week for the foreseeable future. The Australian designers missed the season back in February 2007 and are doing so again this year to concentrate on other things, including an up coming collaboration with Topshop and designer Sarah-Jane Clarke's third pregnancy.

And finally, Milla Jovovich this week revealed to U.S magazine Lucky that she and design partner Carmen Hawk will not be continuing with their label Jovovich Hawk. After 5 years and a high street collaboration with Mango the girls have decided to call it a day.
