The four main fashion cities may present the most important brands and trends, but they still comprise just a narrow slice of a multi-billion-pound global industry. In October alone, St. Petersburg, Mexico City, Wisconsin, the Dominican Republic and Belfast are all scheduled to hold fashion weeks. Bangkok is on now.
Luckily for the fashion-curious, Vice has stripped away the need for a passport with a new series visiting some of the more obscure events. Fashion Week Internationale takes viewers to New York for Full Figured Fashion Week, and to Medellin, Colombia, for the most cosmetically enhanced fashion week in South America.
The first episode whisks us to Pakistan for the second-ever Islamabad Fashion Week, held in a hotel basement that doubles as a bomb shelter. The first time around, IFW was plagued by bomb threats and power cuts, making the pre-show stress several degrees more serious than a third-row ticket.
