The handbag designer has remade her Bespoke shop windows in Thatcher’s image. The window display at the Pont Street store now features a row of mannequins topped in waved-bob wigs and garbed in Thatcherite blue suits (from M&S and Aquascutum, in case you’re curious).
The pearls, the pussy bows and the propriety are all there. So is a series of Hindmarch’s own Ebury handbags in a range of muted colours of which Mrs Thatcher would most certainly approve.
‘The cleverest thing about Thatcher’s image was how her clothes never detracted from her character,’ Hindmarch, a Conservative Party member, told WWD . ‘That was quite a feat, I suspect, to look good and still not be talked about for your clothes.’
