It’s no secret that the ELLE team has a bit of a girl crush on Joanna Sykes thanks largely to her ability to second-guess exactly what we want to wear before we know ourselves. So it won’t come as much surprise that the spring Aquascutum collection, the second that Jo has designed for the label, ticked all our boxes.
Armed with an impressive array of updated wardrobe staples, the Aquascutum girl will be sticking to a neutral colour palette next season – nude, white, black and dove grey – with the odd splash of canary yellow to brighten her day. Flowing silk trousers, some with slit sides, some with lace panels, were paired with modern, sporty jackets, glossy grey trousers were contrasted with soft, flowing white and cream tops and a coated plastic pencil skirt was worn with a bobbled wool cropped jacket. White and cream silk was draped and twisted to form beautifully elegant vests and dresses with Chantilly lace panels that shot straight to the top of our summer wishlist.
And of course, this being Aquascutum, there was outerwear aplenty – but not a standard beige trench in sight. Instead sporty biker jackets and classic trench shapes in nude shades were piped with black and panelled with glossy plastic We wanted it all.
