You might recall that we recently asked you to open your underwear drawer and be honest about your bra habits for a revealing survey.

Nearly 2,500 of you responded and it was all in the name of a good cause as ELLE, in association with ITV’s , House of Fraser and Against Breast Cancer have joined forces to launch a campaign raising money for breast cancer research by asking you to pass on your unwanted bras for charity.

For every tonne of bras donated to House of Fraser stores across the UK, Against Breast Cancer will receive £1000. Plus, all these unwanted bras will then be shipped to developing countries in Africa. Thanks to the survey, now we know quite how many you have, so there’s no excuse – a massive 75% of you have bras that have been unworn for over a year. We also discovered:

- 1 in 3 women own more than ten bras

- 1 in 10 women wear their bra to bed

- 3 in 4 women have not had a bra fitting in over a year

- 54% of women say their bra size affects their fashion choices but eight in ten choose style over comfort

Throughout October, we will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Read ELLE Beauty Director Sophie Beresiner’s inspiring account of her own battle with the disease in the November issue, on sale 2 October.
