One of the Royal Wedding dress designer frontrunners has ended speculation surrounding his involvement in the gown.
Bruce Oldfield told WWD “It has been such a subject of rumour and speculation over the past months, but I am not designing it,” Oldfield said. “We will all know [on Friday] — and I thought I’d duck out of the ‘possibles list’ to give everyone 24 hours to place their final bets!”
So who’s still in the running? Early contenders Phillipa Lepley and Sarah Burton have repeatedly denied involvement, as has recent addition Sophie Cranston of Libelula. But with every denial comes a new name in the frame. Today brings Vera Wang – who also denies it and is surely out of the game because of her American nationality? And Jenny Packham, whose bohemian, embellished gowns are favourite on the modern girl’s bridal circuit. Packham won Bridal Designer of the Year 2011 by trade magazine Bridal Buyer.
