It's been a stellar (sorry…) year for Stella McCartney: an all-singing, all-dancing in February, designing the Olympic kit for Team GB, holding shows in three of the four fashion capitals, launching a second lingerie line and a Designer of the Year nomination from the British Fashion Awards.

And now an announcement that, despite tough economic conditions, profits at the label are up.Sales were up 19% in 2011 and profits rose too – and the growth has continued this year.

Next up for Stella will be the US launch of her second stand-alone fragrance, called L.I.L.Y – in New York next week. And with 20 freestanding stores and 25 shops-in-shop worldwide, with a promise that even more are on their way, Stella shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.
