There may have been subliminal messages behind the speedy, Formula 1-inspired s/s 2015 that Guillaume Henry showed last Thursday, as word arrives form Paris that the young Frenchman is set to leave the label in November.

Praised with the rapid expansion of the relaunched label, Henry leaves an indelible imprint on the 70-year-old French maison.

‘I was very happy to work with Guillaume for practically six years,’ says Carven CEO Henri Sebaoun. ‘We accomplished great things together and today, one chapter is closing and a new adventure is beginning for Carven. I hope that, for his part, he will know as much joy as he has known by my side.’

Rumoured to be taking up residence at Nina Ricci amid whispers that current Creative Director Peter Copping is bound for Oscar de la Renta, Henry is remaining tight-lipped about his next steps.

His appointment in 2009 revived the Parisean brand from a sleeping couture label to a youthful-yet-refined ready-to-wear brand and Sebaoun assured Carven fans that its growth will not stop now, telling WWD: ‘We are going to carry on with our development in terms of store openings and segments, because our strategy is already set. My main objective when I bought Carven was to bring it back to the forefront of fashion by setting trends. I think we have accomplished that over the last five years.

'The idea is to keep up that ambition, so naturally we will be recruiting a new artistic director to represent the house.’
