The exhibition, called The Little Black Jacket and based on Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld’s book by the same title, will open at the King’s Road gallery on 12 October.

The exhibition, which alighted in Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong before heading to the UK, centres around more than 100 of Lagerfeld’s photographs of Chanel friends wearing the French fashion house's classic tweed jacket. Sarah Jessica Parker, Dakota Fanning and Leigh Lezark are among the style insiders who stepped up to Lagerfeld’s lens for the project.

‘[T]his special event underlines the brand’s values of creativity, modernity and excellence,’ Chanel said in a statement.

‘The public will discover the versatility and timelessness of the iconic Chanel jacket through Karl Lagerfeld's 113 photographs’.

Chanel will also install black jacket-themed window displays in its Bond Street, Sloane Street and Brompton Cross boutiques to coincide with the exhibition.
