And Hannah MacGibbon for Chloe – the third wheel in the triumpherate of British women ruling the Paris shows that includes Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo – showed a colour chart of shades from putty through camel to brown.
In line with the current trend for elegant cool, the Chloe girl has grown up a bit for next season, but her cool attitude is still at the heart of her. A satin pussy-bow blouse with high-waisted wide-leg trousers gave a 1970s air. Polo-necks (a continuing trend for next season), mis-matched three-piece suits in different shades of camel and banana shaped trousers continued the theme. The cowgirl cropped up discretely on fringed shorts and trousers and on neck-ties.
It took until look 22 until MacGibbon introduced another colour. On a black leather tracksuit for want of a better description, followed by grey slouch suiting and embroidered velvet.
For Autumn Winter, the Chloe girl is being asked to accept that she’s a year older, a year wiser and now fully equipped to deal with the colour we avoid calling beige. Given this gorgeous collection, we doubt she’ll mind.
