Coachella: Day 2

Wanting to make the most of our last day, we were up bright and early for a morning of recuperation by the pool, swearing we’d never camp at a festival again. This is the way to do it.

Later in the afternoon we dropped into the Lacoste Live Desert Pool Party for some coconut refreshment, a dip with the crocs and a lesson in poolside posing, the Cali way.

Once at the festival we eased into the evening with a few Mojitos. Calvin Harris got us shaking our stuff to his floor-fillers as the California sun dipped behind the San Bernadino mountains.

Having heard Leo was staying nearby, and had been spotted throwing some dubious moved at MGMT the previous night, we were on full alert, but unfortunately Romeo was nowhere to be seen. We did, however, spot Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Emma Roberts, looking every bit the L.A. doyennes in tiny hot pants (bum-skimming shorts and crop tops appear to be compulsory at Coachella) and flawless hair and make-up. These girls know a thing or two about looking chic in the heat.

Lana Del Rey put on a captivating, if somewhat mellow, performance before Disclosure got the crowd moving again to their energetic sound.

Deciding against moshing with the Beliebers at Chance The Rapper (Justin was the surprise guest, much to the delight of the under-21s), we joined a more discerning crowd at the Soho House pop-up party.

What better way to round off our ‘chella experience than with a bit of members-only indulgence? Held in a private mansion and complete with a lake, swimming pool and Moscow Mules on tap, it was treat for the eyes and a perfect final salute to the weekend.

Five lessons we learnt at Coachella:

1. It’s easier to get a kale salad than a drink at Coachella. Do not forget ID.

2. Next year we must come with rainbow hair. And shorter shorts.

3. Emma Roberts is our new girl crush.

4. A festival in a sandstorm is almost as annoying as a festival in the rain.

5. Thumbs up Coachella, but (sorry), the Brits still do it best.

Until next year, ‘chella.
