is taking the helm at as the brands new artistic director following the departure of Nicola Formichetti back in April.

The London-based designer begins his new role in January and will show his first collection in June for pre, with his runway debut in September during Paris Fashion Week.

Koma’s arrival marks the first stage of rebranding for the French fashion house with a new focus on wearability and a return to its roots in women’s ready-to-wear.

"We want to write a new page for Mugler, putting it back on the map in the fashion business," said Virginie Courtin-Clarins, director of development, marketing and communications at Mugler Fashion. "We have the potential to modernise it and I think the potential is huge."

Like his predecessor, Koma likes to dress a powerful woman and thanks to his body-con signature he has a serious celebrity following with the likes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kylie and Cheryl Cole on his clientelle.

With a vision that runs in the same vein as the Mugler DNA, we can't wait to see how Koma reinterprets the Mugler woman.
