Diamonds on the soles of her shoes

The jewellery group is calling the pink satin heels, created with shoe designer Guiseppe Zanotti, ‘the most precious shoes ever.’ Considering the rose gold chains, 22 carats of diamonds, 134 carats of rubellites and 199 carats of pink sapphires built into the footwear, we can’t argue with their estimation.

Supermodel Anja Rubik will actually wear the shoes-slash-foot-jewellery on the Cannes red carpet tonight. Tomorrow, the shoes and a matching pair of rose gold, pink sapphire and diamond hoop earrings will be auctioned off at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS gala. They’ll go under the hammer alongside selections from Karl Lagerfeld’s fashion photography collection, an autographed copy of an Herb Ritts portrait of Elizabeth Taylor, and the Robeto Cavalli dress that Naomi Campbell wore to the designer’s 40th brand birthday party last year.

‘Chopard is a long-time supporter of AmfAR, and in particular of its gala in Cannes,’ Chopard Co-President Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele said. ‘This year, we wished to support the charity through an idea than took shape when I met Giuseppe Zanotti. His talent has inspired a project combining our respective crafts.’
