paid tribute to feminist and political activist, Gloria Steinem, this weekend at her fifth annual DVF awards.

Steinem was handed the Lifetime Leadership Award in recognition of a lifetime spent fighting for women’s rights and equality during a ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. And she wasn’t the only extraordinary woman to be celebrated; Alicia Keys, Kah Walla, Liron Peleg-Hadomi,Noha Katlieb and Veronika Scott were all celebrated for the efforts to improve the lives of others. And they didn't just get a round of applause – each woman will receive a grant of $50,000 from the Diller-von-Furstenberg Family Foundation to help them continue their work.

‘Each year we are humbled and inspired by the extraordinary women we honor at the DVF Awards,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “Our nominees this year are advancing human rights, women’s political and entrepreneurial leadership, world peace, the right to medical care for all, and the right for every person to be treated with the same respect. And we are only honoring 6 women! Their impact has been extraordinary and I am so proud to help share their stories.’
