Last week we told you that Jean Paul Gaultier had teamed up with luxe lingerie label La Perla to design a collection of underwear. Yesterday, at the designer's couture show in Paris, the first pieces were unveiled in style.
Gaultier asked the world's most famous burlesque artist, Dita von Teese , to model a revealing crystal, cut-out corset with matching shoulder pieces. Dita being Dita, of course, it wasn't as striaghtforward as all that. She strolled onto the catwalk dressed in a beautifully draped black chiffon gown and performed a striptease to reveal the lingerie underneath.
Dita tweeted yesterday afternoon, 'That was quite a haute couture moment....' We couldn't agree more.
If you're hoping to work the look yourself then you may be disappointed to learn that the runway piece was a one-off, created to showcase the collectuion that's due to hit stores. But the range is equally beautiful - and perhaps a little more practical - and will go on sale in November.
