are throwing themselves behind John Galliano’s return to fashion.

The Italian design duo have voiced their approval at the news, broken earlier this week, that the former creative director of would be undertaking some work in Oscar de la Renta’s studio following a prolonged absence from the industry.

‘We wish John the best of luck with his return to fashion,’ they said in a statement released to Swide. ‘We've always been admirers of his flamboyant talent. He has been missed from the fashion scene these two years and we can’t wait to see the collection with Oscar de la Renta.’

Galliano will be contributing to de la Renta’s line, it is now understood.

Having been found guilty of racist and anti-Semitic charges brought against him in the spring of 2011, Galliano was released from both Dior and the label he built under his own name. He has since been working on recovery from his well-documented addictions.

Of his decision to return to work, he told WWD: ‘I have been in recovery for the past two years. Several years prior to my sobriety, I descended into the madness of the disease. I said and did things which hurt others, especially members of the Jewish community. I have expressed my sorrow privately and publicly for the pain which I caused, and I continue to do so. I remain committed to making amends to those I have hurt.’
