The latest comes from one Domenico Dolce, who, along with Stefano Gabbana, is touring China.
Monday found the design duo speaking to an audience of fashion students at China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, sharing lessons learnt on the road to building a billion-pound business.
The main point? You have to care. Like, a lot.
‘Fashion has to be your love,’ Dolce said, reported the Wall Street Journal. ‘Look at me, I am a fashion priest—no boyfriend, no husband, no family, only fashion.’
Before you begin to feel too sorry for the lonely Italian, let us revisit: Billion. Pound. Fashion. Business.
They also praised Chinese designers’ work ethics. ‘Some Europeans look at things that come from this country as being lower quality. But we see eccentricity,’ Dolce said, elaborating that Chinese designers put in the grunt work ‘without talking nonsense all the time.’
Nonsense? When have fashion designers ever talked nonsense?
