It says everything that Jedward (aka John and Edward Grimes) were sitting front row. The bleach-quiffed twins, apparently in school uniforms white shirts, black ties, grey shorts, many gold necklaces - have an awful lot in common with Planet DSquared, the creation of fellow identical twins, Dean and Dan Caten. Both a guilty pleasure, perhaps?
First, a short film captured the photogenic designers at work in the studio, fitting models, in romantic grainy black and white footage. Then came the show. This time, curtains were drawn back to reveal a mock photo studio, modelled on Peter Lindberghs famous shoot of a shoot flashbulbs popping as models posed and pouted for all their worth.
The show notes put it like this: Chiffon soufflés, legs a go-go! Leather pleasures, biker couture O.P.U.L.E.N.C.E. She owns everything, less is more, but more is not enough!
From their leather, jewelled caps, to their patent, bondage-strapped platforms, models stepped forth with very little in between: microscopic hot pants, bikini tops, bondage swimsuit, denim cut-offs, flaring leather quilted mini dress, patent leather biker jacket. Every look, in black, white, blue denim, shocking pink or the occasional splash of red and silver, was loaded up with gold chains and pearls.
There were some actual clothes in the mix skimpy little jackets with pushed-up sleeves, silk short-jacket combos, a sinuous black gown in chevrons of black silk its fish tail trailing on the floor and a very cute chiffon souffle dress in grey cheetah print.
Fun? Yes. Camp? Of course. And to sum up? Sometimes, there are just no words
