Forbes has released its annual list of the world’s most powerful women. In among the CEOs, political figures, chairwomen and entrepreneurs are a fair few fashion people, and Diane von Furstenberg is at the top of them.

Belgian-born DVF, who is in her fourth term as president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, has been designing since 1970 and has a collaboration with surfwear brand Roxy in the pipeline.

Following von Furstenberg on the list at number 45 is Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts the Indiana-born executive who has seen the brand’s sales double since her appointment in 2006. Then there’s American Vogue editor Anna Wintour at number 51 and Miuccia Prada at 67.

Gisele Bundchen is the only model on the list in position 83. Aside from being the face of Pantene, Esprit and Versace, and earning a pretty penny from Ipanema flipflops and her own natural skincare brand, Sejaa, she also acts as ambassador for the UN Environmental Program. Oh, and she has a two-year-old son.

Other fashionable people (but fashion industry insiders, per se), ahead of DVF on the list include Lady Gaga at number 14, Michelle Obama at number 8 and HRH Queen Elizabeth at number 26.
