There was nothing cowgirlie about Cameron Diaz at the premiere of Gambit tonight at the Leicester Square Empire theater. The actress, playing rodeo queen, PJ Puznowski, looked sophisticated and glowing in her black and white Stella McCartney dress and little black jacket. Adorning her feet were pair of Burberry heels.
Paying homage to her British co-stars, Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, she looked splendid wearing all British designers tonight. Like the movie they star in, the actors brought a very light-hearted and easy going atmosphere to the red carpet. Firing jokes at almost every question asked about the cast and characters, one can definitely expect to leave the movie theater in an uplifted mood.
Asked about the atmosphere on the set, director Michael Hoffman said: 'When such great actors are in the cast, you are all working together and you are all story tellers and there is freedom in that.' He added that there were a lot of comic situations, but the one that he remembers the most is the one involving a lion. 'The lion was more interested in the art on the wall than in Firth and that was a little embarrassing for Colin because all the lion was trying to do was to look at all these paintings behind him,' laughed Hoffman.
Colin has a memory of his own regarding his time on the set of Gambit. In response to ELLE's question whether there was anything that he did for the first time in this movie, Colin Firth replied: 'Yes, walk with my trousers off!'
That particular scene from the movie along with an unexpected nude scene from Alan Rickman, which was one of the most popular topics on the carpet. 'You just do it,' said Alan.
