Leading designers including , and are teaming up with British artists including Charming Baker, Jeremy Deller and Mark Titchner to create one off pieces of art work, fusing some of the best creative talent that the country has to offer.

The Britain Creates project will see the designers and artists creating art which could range from garments to light installations, all of which will then be exhibited at The Victoria and Albert museum, and then at Selfridges.

Giles Deacon will work with Jeremy Deller; Hussein Chalayan with Gavin Turk; Jonathan Saunders with Jess Flood-Paddock; Mary Katrantzou with Mark Titchner; Matthew Williamson with Mat Collishaw; Nicholas Kirkwood with Simon Periton; Paul Smith with Charming Baker; Peter Pilotto with Francis Upritchard; and Stephen Jones with Cerith Wyn Evans. More names are expected to join the project.

The initiative is part of the British Fashion Councils' Fashion 2012 platform, which celebrates the year of London hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games. BFC chairman Harold Tillman said: "2012 is such a momentous year. The pieces of art and accompanying book will leave a great legacy to reflect on this special year.”
