The ELLE writing competition is back later this year but if you can’t wait until September, it’s not just ELLE nurturing aspiring young writers - fashion designers are also getting in on the act.

Dame Vivienne Westwood is calling all poets to take part in a newly launched competition in support of her Climate Revolution campaign, channelling her mantra ‘buy less, choose well, make it last’.

Working in collaboration with YouYou mentoring, the The Climate Revolution Poetry Project gives five young winners the chance to take part in a series of master classes from special guests and leading contemporary poets.

If poetry isn’t your thing, Prada is inviting budding authors to submit essays for its ‘Prada Journal’ project. The brief poses the question: ‘What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?’ Winners will be revealed in September with £5,000 up for grabs.

And be sure to watch out for details of 2013 ELLE Writing Competition.

Last year’s winner, Alice Blackhurst, wowed the judges with her authentic tale of first love. Her story was published in ELLE, won a place on the ground breaking Faber Academy online writing course, and was paired with an ELLE mentor for writing advice.

This year it’s going to be bigger and better so keep your eyes peeled and your pens at the ready.
