What happens when one of London Fashion Week’s most buzzed-about designers joins forces with the Topshop retail empire? A bat sweater. And a turtle-print denim skirt, schoolgirl pinafore dress and quilted paisley top, of course.
These pieces and more appear in J W Anderson’s debut collection for Topshop, hitting stores and Topshop.com just in time for LFW on 14 September.
The range, Anderson’s first high-street collaboration, bears many of the signatures that have come to command showgoers’ devotion. There’s the paisley to start—a highlight of his spring summer 2012 collection—and a couple of iterations of his knockout varsity jacket.
It’s not just clothes, either: Anderson took the idea of the supermarket as his theme, opening the door to non-fashion items like marker pens, slap bands and sweets.
The designer said he was ‘very excited’ to work with Topshop.
‘It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs,’ he said. ‘It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design.’
