Resort collections show their stripes

Stella brightens up the Resort shows with a British garden party in New York

Stella McCartney tends to treat her pre-collection presentations like un-fashion shows. She has delighted attendees at these non-shows with marshmallow roasting sessions in a Manhattan loft, a capella performances in an art gallery, and tea at the British Embassy in Paris, all in the name of between-season clothes.

Last night, the designer invited friends and fashion types to a Resort (AKA Cruise) presentation in the style of a British church fair. Held at Manhattans St Luke in the Fields, the event drew Liv Tyler, Naomi Wattsand Bono (we dont know either).

Models roamed the church garden in picnic stripes, bow-embellished maxi skirts and tropical wave prints, playing croquet, bursting piñatas and getting into heated table tennis battles as they showcased the trends.

Closer to home, Henry Holland took a different tack, marking his first Resort collection with a video. In it, model Eliza Cummings gets down to Neneh Cherrys Buffalo Stance in House of Hollands vibrant designs (more horizontal stripes!). Its poppy, fresh, and full of fun. Dare you not to smile...
