When Matches found itself in need of new leadership for its Freda label, the team had to look no further than its enviable roster of designers. Enter Osman Yousefzada
, Fredas new design consultant. Working with Matches owner Ruth Chapman, the London designer devised a collection rich in 70s-inspired wardrobe building blocks.
I am so excited about working with Matches on the Freda collection, Osman said in a statement. What I wanted to bring to this collaboration for Autumn Winter 2011 was an easy elegance, which was still in tune with my cut and proportion in the form of a capsule wardrobe.
These pieces have a timeless yet versatile charactertaking you seamlessly from day to evening, and through the weekend.
Freda is a line lauded for its elevated basics. Yousefzadas predecessor, Joanna Sykes, so distinguished herself in the job (and at her own label) that she was offered the role of creative director at Aquascutum
Chapman said the newest collaboration grew out of her love for Osmans characteristic minimalist silhouette. Key pieces include a camel coat, skinny leather biker trousers and a mannish shirt. These pieces will provide the basis of every womans effortless A/W dressing, she promised.
