Since Dior announced that they wouldn't be appointing a replacement for John Galliano at Dior for a few months more, the endless flurry of rumours and speculation about who will bag the top job has died down. For many, though, the expectation remains the same - that Riccardo Tisci will make the move from Givenchy to Dior and that Haider Ackermann will fill his shoes.
This week both designers have spoken about the rumours, and while the fashion industry may be busy plotting their next moves, the pair seem to be steering clear of the furore and staying focussed on their current roles.
Yesterday WWD asked Ackermann about his possible job change and he responded, 'Let the rumors talk. But I would, at a certain point, accept a house which might fit me and which I would feel comfortable with but there are not many. I dont think one single person knows the house Im dreaming of. I wont go there. Nobody is going to figure it out because it would be a total surprise.'
And there's no guarantee that Ackermann would take a role at GIvenchy even if he was asked - he revealed that he has turned down an impressive nine contracts with major fashion houses in the past, '...but you can never mention those things because it will be very un-elegant to the other persons who accepted the jobs.'
