If you've picked up your July issue of ELLE (and if you haven't then hurry, it's on newsstands as we speak) then you're probably already sporting the free Reiss vest that came with it. And you're probably admiring the super chic illustration splashed across it. The fair hand behind the design? None other than impossibly chic Parisian photographer and illustrator, Garance Dore.
We were chatting to Garance yesterday and asked her about the design. 'I just wanted to draw a beautiful girl. And I love a striped T-shirt and I wanted to find a way to do that so her T-shirt is striped.' Naturally this insight into Garance's style preferences leads us to ask more questions about the inner workings of her wardrobe - not least because we always spend a large part of fashion week admiring her looks. So what did we learn?
'My style is always evolving,' she told us, 'and its always related to work, whether Im shooting or going to a glamorous party. I love sportswear and menswear and I like to mix them with high fashion and feminine accessories. I dont like to be too obviously sexy but at the same time I try not to be too masculine. Most importantly I have to be comfortable enough to take pictures.'
We also discovered that her three favourite labels are Celine, Chloe and Stella McCartney ('I think they really talk to women of my age, theyre wearable and simple and I love that.') and that the most treasured piece in her wardrobe is her Stella trouser suit.
