The exquisite dress is reminiscent of that worn by Grace Kelly at her own wedding. The ivory and white, full skirted silk gazar gown is overlaid with beautiful Chantilly lace sleeves, and the train is two metres seventy long. She is wearing a short veil, with loose, naturally styled hair and a 1936 scroll tiara worn by the Queen Mother.
Confirming persistent rumours about the designer of the dress, Sarah Burton has been seen at the Abbey smoothing the bride's train. The palace has made the following statement:
"Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing...Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterises Alexander McQueen's work. Miss Middleton worked closely with Sarah Burton in formulating the design of her dress."
Burton is also confirmed to be the designer of Pippa Middleton' heavy ivory satin based crêpe bridesmaid's dress.More
