Thanks to Galliano's departure at Dior the fashion industry is anticipating a massive reshuffle at the top of the Paris fashion houses. And now there's another piece of news to add to the speculation - Christophe Decarnin is leaving Balmain.
Back in February there were signs that all was not well at the label when Decarnin was conspicuously absent from his catwalk show. Rumours circulated at the time that he was under doctor's orders not to work, but according to WWD his departure has less to do with his health than his not seeing eye to eye with chairman Alain Helvin. For his part Helvin issued a statement today saying, 'Since 1945, the house of Pierre Balmain has been one of the leading French and international luxury brands. Christophe Decarnins work with the houses design team contributed to the success that the brand has enjoyed in recent years.'
Word has it that Decarnin's successor is set to be announced shortly, and that it is likely to be someone who already works for the label. But as yet there's no news on where Decarnin will move onto - we're sure the rumour mill is whirring into action as we speak...More
