Lily and Sarah take on RTW

Now, the boutique owners are turning to fashion design, with a line of dresses based on some of their most cherished vintage pieces.

Allen and Owen worked with a design team to blend elements from different vintage garments—a neckline here, a sleeve detail there—into a range of 18 timeless frocks.

There’s Regatta, a mint-green polka-dotted day dress with a scalloped neckline and ruffle hem; a tea dress named after scone-and-cake palace Fortnum & Mason, and a couple of darling ‘50s-style prom dresses that wouldn’t look out of place on Lily Allen, circa 2007. We’re rather taken with the red-and-purple ombré Claret maxi-dress (flower behind ear most advisable).

Look for the collection, priced £95-£350, in Harvey Nichols and Lucy In Disguise (online and in-store) from June.
