The good money is on someone else from under the LVMH umbrella - there's the choice of Riccardo Tisci, currently at Givenchy, Celine's Phoebe Philo, Marc Jacobs who's currently heading up Louis Vuitton, and Emilio Pucci's Peter Dundas.
But, of course, there's a whole industry of names out there. There is continual speculation about Stefano Pilati's position at YSL, although the label maintains that he's sticking around, his name is one of a handful cropping up in whispers. Alber Elbaz is also being mentioned, thanks in part to the ultra-feminine signature that he's forged at Lanvin that could translate to Dior. Jean Paul Gaultier could step in - after all, he gave up his position at Hermes last season and perhaps would welcome a role at another big fashion house.
