She's interviewed the great and the good of music and Hollywood and hosted music festivals and TV shows, so you'd probably imagine that Alexa Chung is pretty laid back when it comes to standing in front of an audience. Her job last night as host of the ELLE Style Awards, however, apparently bought on a case of stage fright. 'I'm really nervous now,' she told us as she hit the red carpet. 'I was in my room going 'Oh I'm not nervous, this is so wierd I'm not nervous and then I walked down the stairs and saw everybody.I'm usually not really nervous about very many things but I guess public speaking is a different kettle of fish.'
Alexa also told us which of last night's guests was was most looking forward to seeing. 'Vivienne Westwood is presenting an award, she's a bit of an icon,' she said. 'Courtney Love is good for a laugh, I hope she does something outrageous, and David Gandy, male model, good on the old eyes.' We couldn't agree more.
And she had a host of friends on hand to offer support - Nick Grimshaw, Henry Holland and Pixie Geldof were all in the audience. 'I'm encouraging them to drink every time I say '...And for the next award', said Alexa. Check out our full interview with her below:
