ELLE talks to William Tempest

William Tempest’s rise in the fashion world has been nothing short of meteoric, since winning the Vauxhall Fashion Scout's Merit Award in 2009. At the age of 25 his brand is already a mainstay on the fashion week schedules and he counts A-listers Rihanna, Kate Moss, Emma Watson and Victoria Beckham among his celebrity fans.

‘All of the fabrics are natural and biodegradable and I also work with factories and fabric suppliers that have ethical conditions and work to certain standards so it is something that is very important for me. I think as a young brand it’s good to implement the principles and ethos early. Being a vegetarian as well, I was attracted to The Body Shop as the products are all vegetarian and not tested on animals.’

‘For me the make-up and accessories are really what completes the look. You need to have the model in the clothes for them to come to life and that’s one of my favourite parts of the whole process to tie my inspiration in with the hair and make-up because it really finishes it off.
