ELLE talks shop with Tory Burch

Having won an CFDA award for Best Accessories Designer, boasted Oprah as a fan, and appeared as herself on Gossip Girl, Tory Burch's London takeover was almost inevitable. But that doesn't stop her being excited about it. We talked to the New York designer about her arrival in the capital this morning, and she told us that "London is one of my favourite cities in the world. I love that British women take fashion risks, and I am thrilled to be able to bring our collection to the UK".

The premises are located in the heartland of London's boutique shopping in Mayfair, and Burch "loved everything about the location, from the historic building to the energy on New Bond Street". The stylish designer, whose Reva logo flats have become a modern classic, also revealed her favourite spots for shopping when in the capital. She always finds time for "Antique shopping on Portobello Road and vintage shopping at One of a Kind"- but her new favourite shop is likely to be her own:

"The space is fantastic—it has interesting structural details and a tented ceiling with a skylight. In terms of décor, we stayed true to our brand signatures while also including unique residential pieces. There are two floors—the first has clothing and accessories, and the second has a living room and library for special events and shopping."

The Tory Burch boutique is on New Bond Street, where it will find itself in good company; Miu Miu and Mulberry both opened up their new flagships there this week.
