Mario Testino enlisted to take official Royal engagement pics

The legendary Peruvian fashion photographer shot the Royal couple last month, following the announcement of their impending marriage, and pictures are expected to be released imminently.

The choice of Testino may well be another nod from William to his late mother, following the decision to give Kate Middleton Princess Diana's engagement ring, and the rumoured choice of Bruce Oldfield (one of Diana's favourite labels) to design the dress. William's choice of ring was described by the Prince at the time of the engagement announcement as "my way of making sure mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement, and the fact that we're going to spend the rest of our lives together." Testino photographed the Princess many times, and his final portraits of her are said to be favourites of Princes William and Harry; making him a natural choice for the new engagement series.
