Miuccia and friends launch Miu Miu flagship
The designer was in town to launch the new boutique, which is set over two floors, and designed to be reminiscent of an oversized jewellery box, housing treasures from the Miu Miu collection. She was joined by a coterie of high profile fans of the label, including Jessica Alba, Lily Cole and Sadie Frost, who sipped champagne in the store, before heading to a private dinner at Lancaster House.
The dinner, prepared by chefs from Michelin starred restaurant Da Vittorio di Brusaporto in Bergamo, transformed the old palace building into Italian terrain, with assistance from an Oscar winning set designer. On the exclusive invite list was Kate Moss, Mark Ronson and girlfriend Josephine de la Baume, while Lily Allen made one of her first public appearances since her miscarriage to attend the event. Los Angeles dwelling Jessica Alba revealed her secret to dressing for the London winter; discretely secreting snowboarding heat pads in her shoes and clothing. The gracious actress also tweeted enthusiastically on the way home: "Mrs. Prada is just amazing... A truly memorable night. Thank you for having me"
The new Mayfair store will debut the SS11 Miu Miu resort line, as well as a selection of items produced exclusively for the shop, under the label "London New Bond Street Special Edition".
