Now Sean "Diddy" Combs has cemented his love affair with fashion by dedicating his new release to it, and inviting some fashion royalty to cameo on tracks. 'Last Train To Paris' is Diddy's sixth album, and features contributions from Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Isaac Mizrahi and Anna Wintour. Fashion luminaries and musical turns have not always made the best bedfellows (as anyone who caught Naomi on Top of the Pops may well recall), but Diddy has wisely played safe on his sixth album, with each guest artist providing a spoken introduction, rather than singing vocals, on each track.
Listeners, who can hear the album on hypebeast.com, will catch a "What's up? This is Marc Jacobs and you're rocking with the best," from the American designer on third track 'I hate that you love me,' as well as similar intros from Mizrahi, Hilfiger, Wintour, and André Leon Talley. The latter has deemed Diddy blessed with the "swagger and elegance of Cary Grant," as well as the "Motown glamour" of Marvin Gaye.
Let's hope fashion's contributions to Diddy's music are as well received as Diddy's award winning contributions to fashion.More
