The exhibition, which runs from today until 9 January at Somerset House, is a tribute to the illustrator Rene Gruau who created many iconic fashion and beauty images throughout the 20th Century. The cocktail party was co-hosted by Somerset House and Parfums Dior with Kick Ass actress Chloe Moretz, Daisy Lowe, Mark Ronson and Roland Mouret topping the guest list.
Although he worked for some of the biggest names in fashion over the years, Gruau is best known for the work that he did for Dior. He first started working alongside his friend Christian in 1947, and produced countless illustrations for the fashion houses ad campaigns. The exhibition showcases original Gruau artwork, as wells as vintage Dior perfume bottles, sketches, magazines and poster adverts, plus a selection of Dior Haute Couture dresses personally selected by John Galliano. And there's even a special dress designed by Galliano in homage to Gruau.
