Last night Net-a-Porter treated us to an intimate dinner at the Haunch of Venison gallery in Mayfair in honour of US designer Reed Krakoff who has just been taken in to the fold at net-a-porter.com. Not only was it a chance to have a private tour of the gallery's Tom Wesselmann exhibition, it was also an opportunity to learn a bit more about the designer who's currently taking the US by storm.
Reed Krakoff is the creative director of accessories label Coach and vice-president of the CFDA - some serious fashion credentials then. This autumn is the debut season of his eponymous label, but already he's won over the fashion crowd with his simple, tailored pieces, classic knitwear and much coveted accessories. Julianne Moore even graced the front row of his Spring 2011 show in New York.
Natalie Massenet, Net-a-Porter's founder, said "we all know Reed from his work at Coach - who doesn't own a Coach handbag? Now we welcome his own label which I am certain will be the great American brand of the future. We are so grateful that you have chosen us women as your canvas". Dressed head to fur-lined stiletto in the label she added, "I have never had so many compliments on what I'm wearing as I have tonight".
