If there was any doubt left about the significance of fluoro after Kane, Altuzarra and a multitude of other shows, Miuccia Prada stamped it in ink for Miu Miu's spring summer collection.
Yellow and electric blue satin long-sleeved dresses came with pleat skirts. Some were left plain, some came with stylised swan or snake prints. A jagged starburst was sewn on to high shine leather jackets in silver, bronze, black and gold as well as kilts. It felt very cartoonish, very kapow on some looks, on others quite elegant. Beaded bobbles dropped from skirts and dresses - all these elements adding a twist to an otherwise classic shape.
Like at Prada, trousers did not feature and all hemlines were just below the knee to show off the fabulous neon and silver multi-strap heels.
With a soundtrack featuring dialogue of Flashdance, Cheryl Cole and the X Factor, could this have been a cryptic message about celebrity and "star"dom? Don't be ridiculous, if Muiccia has never seen Mad Men as she claimed last season, surely X Factor is beyond the pale...More
