Vanessa Bruno has been a busy girl. Her first London store opens shortly and she has just broken America with a Melrose Avenue boutique in L.A. Speaking to New York Times' T Magazine last month she said, 'I'm not a typical French girl who's only been in Europe and doesn't know America'. No, she spent her childhood summers road tripping with her supermodel mum in the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. Perhaps where some of the holiday inspiration came for her Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
Leaf print shirts and sarong-tie dresses mixed with floral lace shorts and loose denim shirts to give a whimsical and carefree summer wardrobe. Bruno's signature is displaced straps and draping; this was seen in all-in-ones and cut-out jumpsuits while loose stripe coats slung easily over camis and sweet sundresses.
Lou Doillon, Bruno's current muse, sat front row as the perfect example of how this label can be thrown together and work effortlessly.
