Giles Deacon's Debut at Ungaro

Fashion Week favourite Anna Della Russo was dressed in transparent lace and holding a plastic sheep while chatting to Jade Parfitt and Karolina Kurkova in this informal presentation.

Giles also brought to Ungaro his fondness for out of city-centre show locations and a scrum-like entrance. As ELLE approached the venue, several high profile editors and buyers were leaving already, unable to get close to the clothes. Risking life, limb and cameras shoved in heads, we surged forward to see the clothes. After all, this was billed as a highlight of the week.

From underneath a photographer's armpit, we witnessed a saccharine palette of pink and mint, a satin asymmetric gown slashed across the bust with diamante bandage straps and a feather corsage - very trad Ungaro. Diamante encrusted bras were covered in transparent gauze and ostrich feather skirts were attached to pink mesh vests - very Della Russo. We shall have to wait and see whether it's enough to put Ungaro back on the map.
