Back in the 1980s Karl Lagerfeld and Ines de la Fressange were the best of friends and the model was the muse and face of Chanel throughout the decade. The duo fell out, however, reportedly because the model agreed to pose for a statue of Marianne, the symbol of the French Republic, and Lagerfeld announced that he would not dres a monument.
But according to rumour the pair have finally made up. The result? Not only is de la Fressange set to walk in the Chanel show tomorrow, she's also been signed up as the face of the Spring/Summer 2011 campaign alongside Freja Beha Erichsen and Stella Tennant. According to WWD, Lagerfeld described the 52 year old as 'beyond stunning' and revealed that the shoot for next season's campaign will take place in the south of France.
The appointment of de la Fressange is the latest in a line of comeback gigs for grown-up supermodels. In the past few weeks we've seen everyone from 71 year old Verushka to 45 year old Yasmin le Bon, as well as 1990s favourites Amber Valetta and Stella Tennant. Who said that only teenage models could cause a stir on the runway?More
