Grey Gardens meets fashionable pugs at Mulberry

She wasn’t the only celebrity attendee. We spotted Olivia Palermo and Cat Deeley in the packed Ballroom too – thanks to the short distance from the just-finished Margaret Howell show it was standing room only, and there wasn’t much of that left either.

The collection was inspired by documentary ‘Grey Gardens’ and classic novel ‘The Secret Garden’, so amongst the box jackets and matching skirts and pretty dresses there were rosettes and pretty floral shades. But we noticed quite the animal theme too – tiger print on the clothes, a rabbit on the canvas bag that we were handed as we went in, ‘Cool For Cats’ by Squeeze blasting from the speakers and, of course, the real stars of the show: Gladys and Pixie, Brix Smith-Start’s pugs, whose Mulberry jackets were cute enough to melt even the steeliest editor’s heart.
