The designer showcased his debut collection at a very small gathering in his New York store. Naturally every fashion editor in town who was able to lay her hands on a ticket was there, but the A-list weren't invited and photographers were banned. This was an elite affair.
Pictures of the collection are being kept well and truly under wraps, but WWD described it as '...very Ford, which is to say consummately glamorous, yet very real, from numerous takes on the smoking to gowns covered in yard-long silken fringe. They all sent the message from which Ford the designer has never veered: Looking good, looking chic, looking right is worth a little effort.'
But almost as exciting as the existence of a collection is the line-up of models that Ford persuaded to hit the runway for him. Striding down the catwalk were (deep breath) Beyonce, Karen Elson, Daria Werbowy, Daphne Guinness, Natalia Vodianova and Chanel Iman to name but a few. We think that trumps even the stellar line-up at Louis Vuitton last season.More
