Youngbritishdesigners.com is a recently founded website which does just that, with over 35 young designers' collections for sale, providing many with their first UK stockist. The roster of designers includes some familiar names like Danielle Scutt, Felder Felder and Eudon Choi, but also introduces lots of new faces, with labels plucked from Off Schedule and Vauxhall Fashion Scout shows. The well edited selection offers a handful of garments from each designer, as well as some fabulous statement accessories from ones-to-watch Sophie Gittins and Fannie Schiavoni. It's the perfect place to start if you want to be a few steps ahead of the fashion pack during LFW, and invest in what could become a little piece of fashion history should their makers rise in the industry.
The site founders are hoping to "put brilliant new British fashion design on the world stage;" guaranteeing new designers a platform to both publicise their work, and ultimately to sell it. In harnessing consumer power to boost the potential of up and coming design talent (and giving us a chance to snap up their clothes while they're still relatively new), youngbritishdesigners.com follows online boutique Catwalkgenius.com, which invites customers to invest in designers, as well as buy their work. The latter's recently launched collection by Katie Eary was funded entirely by visitors to the site.
Now all they need is some spending power. Ladies, over to you.More
