Marc Jacobs flew into London last night to launch his new men's scent, Bang, with a party at Harvey Nichols. We had a chat with him (big excitement) and couldn't resist asking him about the ad for the fragrance - that's the one that stars Marc lying naked on tin foil clutching a strategically placed perfume bottle.
So what made him take all his clothes of to pose? Was he inspired by the original naked designer, Yves Saint Laurent? Or is he just happier with no clothes on? It's not the first time he's appeared naked after all. 'Well, I'm always inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, he's always been an icon of mine,' Marc told us. 'And I have got naked before although I wouldn't say I'm happier with my clothes off. It wasn't planned actually. We tried shooting it with clothes but it just didn't work.'
So there was no opportunity for pre-shoot tanning and prepping then? 'Well I was pretty tanned because I'd just come back from holiday and I go to the gym a lot anyway so I was in pretty good shape. But really nothing. There was no fluffing.'
While we had him to hand we also thought we'd try to get Marc to give us a clue about what we can expect from his varying collections for spring 2011 but he was giving nothing away. 'I don't really know,' he said, 'it's too early to tell. I never really know until it's over because it changes every day so anything I told you now would be obsolete.'More
