We can't help getting excited about all the new season pieces hitting stores and creating a daily wishlist of the things we want to buy - camel coat, aviator jacket, pointed courts, anything velvet, tailored trousers, it's a long list...
However, it's true to say that there are certain pieces in our wardrobe that we break out each season, the classics that we wear and wear and never tire of. The Selfridges team obviously feel the same, because on Monday the London store is set to open a new pop-up shop called 'The Forever Shop'.
The store has been curated by Selfridges Creative Director, Alannah Weston, Elle Decoration Editor In Chief, Michelle Ogundehin and designer Paul Smith, and each has chosen a clutch of timeless buys to be stocked within. The idea is that we all re-think our obsession with fast fashion and embrace the idea of buying pieces that we can wear into our old age and then hand down to our children. So, you'll be able to invest in a Burberry trench, a pair of black Doc Marten boots, some Ray Ban Wayfarers or a Chanel 2.55 bag, all sure to be wardrobe favourites from the moment you first wear them.
And there will also be a hand-picked selection of interior design classics as well as a book list chosen by Paul Smith - everything from Lady Chatterley's Lover to a book about Bauhaus.
The Forever Shop will be open 12 July - 15 August at Selfridges, Oxford Street, London.More
